About Driek

Driek leads McKinsey’s core IT work in Europe, which serves clients across sectors on full technology and operations transformations. He works across industries—including financial services, insurance, telecommunications, and consumer goods—as well as industrial goods and start-ups. Driek also works with companies on new digital and analytics business models and implementation.

Prior to his current role, Driek led Digital Labs in Asia and our work in digital design and delivery capability. From 2009 till 2014 he led McKinsey’s Business Technology Practice in Asia. Prior to that our projects in insurance operations and IT in Europe and the Northern European Business Technology Practice.

Driek has more than 20 years of experience serving financial institutions and technology-related companies in Asia and Europe. His work focuses on growth strategies, digital-business-model design and implementation, and large-scale transformations. In operations and IT, he helped launch McKinsey's efforts in lean operations in banking and insurance, founded the global banking and insurance IT benchmarks, led multiple programs on end-to-end delivery, and worked on a multitude of IT-related programs, including core-banking-system replacement, online-banking-solution design, and IT simplification.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • building and launching the e-care solution for a leading mobile player with more than 100 million customers
  • developing the full business plan, IT platform, logistics chain, and organisation for an e-commerce company in Indonesia, and helping with the launch
  • conducting a combined retailer and telecommunication data-analytics effort to identify immediate business growth initiatives at a granular customer segment level
  • setting up end-to-end financial services IT data ingestion, an analytics and commercial cross and upselling programme, including implementing the organisation
